Coachella Reverses Vaccine Mandate for 2022 Festival

The famed music festival Coachella recently updated its COVID protocol requirements for attendees. Previously Coachella, run by AEG Presents, operated under the guidelines that all guests must be fully vaccinated in order to attend. A few months ago AEG Presents released a statement announcing that for all of their events they will require proof of full vaccination from concertgoers and event staff.

It now seems that Coachella has had a change of heart. On Tuesday (Oct. 13) the official Instagram for the music festival announced it will also accept recent negative COVID test from attendees. A statement released via Coachella’s IG stories said,

“After seeing first-hand the low transmission data and successful implementation of safety protocols at our other festivals this past month, we feel confident that we can update our health policy to allow for: Negative Covid-19 test taken within 72 hours of the event OR Proof of full vaccination”

As previously reported, Coachella has postponed its festival for the last two years as a coronavirus precaution. The music festival is set to return in 2022.

The following year, in 2023, singer Frank Ocean is set to perform at the festival as the headliner. This won’t be the first time that Frank Ocean has hit the stage at Coachella. In 2012 the Grammy-Award-winning artist was a part of the lineup for the music festival.
